ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION TREATMENTS

A Personalized Approach to Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction can have vascular, hormonal, neurologic, medication-related, and psychological contributors. Our approach begins with a confidential medical evaluation and may include laboratory testing when appropriate. Treatment recommendations are individualized and may include oral medication, penile injection therapy, low-intensity shockwave therapy, PRF, or other options based on your needs.

Oral ED Medications

For many men, oral medications such as sildenafil or tadalafil may be an appropriate first-line option. Your provider will review your medical history, current medications, treatment response, and goals to determine which option may be appropriate for you.

Personalized compounded formulations may also be considered and can combine medications such as tadalafil, sildenafil, apomorphine, and oxytocin to address different aspects of erectile function and sexual response.

Penile Injection Therapy (BiMix, TriMix & QuadMix)

For men who do not achieve satisfactory results with oral ED medications – or who prefer another treatment option – penile injection therapy can provide a targeted approach to erectile dysfunction. BiMix, TriMix, and QuadMix are compounded injectable medications containing different combinations of medications that work to increase penile blood flow and help produce an erection.

Treatment is individualized based on your medical history, previous treatment response, and goals. When appropriate, patients receive an in-office test dose and personalized injection training, including instruction on technique, dosing, storage, and important safety precautions before using therapy at home.

Low-Intensity Shockwave Therapy

Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a noninvasive treatment that uses acoustic energy directed to penile tissue. It is intended to support vascular function and penile blood flow and may be considered for selected men with erectile dysfunction. Your provider will discuss whether this treatment is appropriate for your individual condition and goals.

Penile PRF

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is prepared from a small sample of your own blood and contains platelets and naturally occurring growth factors. PRF can be used as a regenerative treatment intended to support penile tissue health and erectile function. Because individual responses vary and evidence continues to evolve, your provider will discuss realistic expectations and whether PRF may complement other ED treatments.

Penile Neurotoxin

Penile neurotoxin is an emerging treatment that uses botulinum toxin in carefully selected patients. By temporarily reducing smooth-muscle contraction, it may support erectile function and may improve the appearance of flaccid penile length in some men. This use of botulinum toxin is off-label, and results vary. A consultation is required to determine whether treatment may be appropriate.

PENILE ENHANCEMENT

Penile Dermal Filler

For men interested in nonsurgical penile enhancement, hyaluronic acid dermal filler may be used to increase penile girth and improve proportion. Treatment is customized to the patient’s anatomy and desired outcome, with an emphasis on balanced, natural-looking results.

During your consultation, your provider will review expected results, the amount of filler that may be appropriate, aftercare, potential risks, and whether additional treatment sessions may be needed to achieve your goals.

Combining Treatments

Some patients may benefit from more than one approach. For example, treatment for erectile function may be combined with an enhancement procedure when medically appropriate. Your plan is developed around your anatomy, symptoms, health history, priorities, and treatment goals rather than a predetermined package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can ED treatments be combined?

Yes, in selected patients. Oral medication, injection therapy, shockwave therapy, and regenerative approaches may sometimes be used individually or as part of a broader treatment plan. Your provider will recommend a strategy based on your medical history and response to treatment.

Are BiMix, TriMix, and QuadMix the same?

No. They are compounded penile injection therapies that contain different combinations of medications. The choice of formulation and dose depends on the patient’s history, response, and treatment goals.

Will I be taught how to perform penile injections?

Yes. When injection therapy is prescribed, we can provide an in-office test dose and individualized instruction so you understand proper injection technique, dosing, storage, and safety precautions before administering treatment at home.

How can penile neurotoxin help with erectile dysfunction?

Botulinum toxin works by temporarily relaxing smooth muscle. When used in penile tissue, this may help improve blood flow and support erectile function in some men. Penile neurotoxin is an emerging, off-label treatment for erectile dysfunction, and results can vary.

Does penile filler increase length?

Penile dermal filler is primarily used to increase girth rather than erect penile length. Your provider will discuss realistic expectations based on your anatomy and desired outcome.

Does penile neurotoxin permanently enlarge the penis?

No. Penile neurotoxin does not permanently enlarge the penis. In selected patients, temporary relaxation of smooth muscle may improve flaccid penile appearance or length. Results vary, and this is an off-label use of botulinum toxin.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

The best option depends on the cause and severity of your symptoms, your medical history, previous treatments, medications, anatomy, and personal goals. A private consultation allows your provider to develop an individualized plan.
