What Botox does, and when you will actually see it

Botox is a prescription form of botulinum toxin type A. It briefly relaxes the specific muscles that crease your skin when you frown or squint, so the lines above them soften. It does not fill, lift, or change your face. It relaxes movement in one targeted area at a time.

The timeline is gradual, and that is normal. Per the FDA prescribing label, the first changes appear around day 3, results peak at one to two weeks, and a facial treatment lasts roughly three to four months before muscle movement returns. You will not see the full result the day you leave.

  • ~ Day 3 – First softening starts to show.
  • 1 to 2 weeks – Full result. This is when to book any touch-up check.
  • 3 to 4 months – Movement returns gradually, then you re-treat.

FDA-approved areas versus off-label requests

Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved for three facial areas: frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. Other common requests, a lip flip, a brow lift, masseter slimming for jaw clenching, neck bands, or a gummy smile, are off-label. Off-label use is legal and routine in trained hands, but you deserve to be told which category your treatment falls in. We tell you at the visit.

What Botox costs near Cooper City in 2026

Botox is priced per unit, not per area. In Florida the going rate runs roughly 10 to 20 dollars per unit, so your total depends on how many units your muscles actually need, not on a flat forehead price.

Unit counts vary by person, by muscle strength, and by whether you are starting fresh or maintaining. These are the ranges providers commonly work within:

Treatment areaTypical units
Forehead lines10 to 30
Frown lines (between brows)15 to 30
Crow’s feet5 to 15 per side

The 5-Gate Injector Check

Florida treats Botox as the practice of medicine, not a salon service. Before you let anyone inject your face, run them through these five gates. They come straight from Florida law and from the questions most clinic pages quietly skip. A provider worth booking passes all five without flinching.

An in-person medical evaluation, first

The law: Florida requires an in-person evaluation by a licensed provider with prescribing authority before your first injection. A video call does not satisfy it.

Why it matters: Someone qualified has to confirm Botox is right for your health and your anatomy before a needle comes out.

A licensed injector with injectable-specific training

The law: Only physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses under direct supervision may inject in Florida. Estheticians, medical assistants, and LPNs may not, regardless of any certificate.

Why it matters: A weekend course does not equal the license that lets someone administer a prescription drug into your face.

A named physician behind the practice

The law: A med spa not owned by a physician must hold a Health Care Clinic License from Florida’s AHCA and appoint a licensed MD or DO as Medical Director, who sets the treatment protocols and stays available for oversight.

Why it matters: The physician is legally responsible for what happens, even when not in the room.

Product transparency

The fact: There is no single Botox. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Daxxify are all botulinum toxin type A, with different dosing units and durations.

Why it matters: The product and the unit count drive both your result and your bill. You should know both before treatment.

A written plan for adverse events

The reality: Even in good hands, a brow can drop or one side can settle unevenly. It is usually minor and correctable.

Why it matters: A clinic that has a clear policy has thought about the bad day, not just the good one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a PA inject Botox in Florida?

Yes. Physician Assistants, along with physicians and nurse practitioners, may inject Botox in Florida under a supervising-physician arrangement with written delegation. Estheticians, medical assistants, and LPNs may not, regardless of any certificate they hold.

Does Botox hurt?

Most people describe a quick pinch per injection point. The needles are very fine, and a single facial session usually takes a few minutes. Tell your injector if you are sensitive; numbing or ice can help.

How long until I see results, and how long do they last?

First changes appear around day 3, the full effect lands at one to two weeks, and facial results last about three to four months, per the FDA label. Book any touch-up check at the two-week mark, once you can see the peak result.

Will I look frozen?

Not when the injector doses conservatively and maps your muscles. The goal is softer lines with your expressions intact. You can start lower and add more at a two-week check. You cannot subtract once it is in.
