In Florida, the law decides who is allowed to put a needle in your face, and you can check your injector’s license yourself in about five minutes. Botox is a prescription medicine, so injecting it is the practice of medicine. Only a physician (MD or DO), a nurse practitioner (ARNP) under a physician protocol, or a physician assistant (PA) under a physician delegation agreement can legally inject you.

A registered nurse may inject only in narrow, case-by-case situations approved by the Board of Nursing, on a physician’s written order and under direct supervision. Estheticians, cosmetologists, and medical assistants cannot inject, in any setting.

Most med-spa pages call their staff “experienced injectors.” That phrase tells you nothing about a license type or who supervises it. So verify it yourself before you book anywhere near Hallandale Beach.

Check any Florida injector in 5 minutes

  1. Get the name and license type. Ask for the injector’s full legal name and whether they are a PA, ARNP, or physician.
  2. Open FLHealthSource.gov. Use the License Verification tool run by the Florida Department of Health.
  3. Search and match. Look them up by name or license number. Confirm the license is active and matches what you were told.
  4. Read the discipline tab. The same record lists any administrative action on that license.

It’s free, public, and takes about five minutes. Do it before you’re in the chair, not after. At Revive 365 Wellness a licensed physician assistant (PA-C) injects you, under a supervising physician’s written delegation agreement, the structure Florida requires for PAs. Ask us for the injector’s license number and run the same check.

The Revive Movement Map

Over-treated, frozen faces usually come from two mistakes: treating the line instead of the muscle under it, and going too strong on the first visit. Our four-step method is built to avoid both.

  1. Map your movement. Before any product, we watch you frown, lift your brows, and squint, then mark which muscles drive each line on your face specifically.
  2. Treat muscles, not lines. We dose the muscle behind a line at the lowest amount that relaxes it, so the muscles around it keep working and your face still moves.
  3. Start low on the first visit. You can add units two weeks later. You can’t take them back out. First doses run conservative on purpose.
  4. Review at two weeks. We recheck at peak effect and top up only where a line still shows.

That last step is the point. Two weeks is when Botox reaches full strength, so it’s the right moment to judge the result and fine-tune, instead of guessing on day one.

What Botox treats

Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved for four areas, and since 2024 it’s the only neuromodulator approved to treat the neck. Those four areas are the frown lines between your brows (the glabellar “11s”), crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes, horizontal forehead lines, and the vertical neck bands called platysma bands. Daxxify and Letybo are approved for frown lines only.

How it works

Botox is purified botulinum toxin type A. Injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve signal telling that muscle to contract, so the muscle relaxes and the line it was creasing softens. It wears off as the nerve endings recover.

How fast, and how long

First changes show in 2 to 4 days, with the full result around day 14. On the FDA label the effect runs about 3 to 4 months and varies by area and by person. Crow’s feet often fade first because those muscles move all day. The label says not to repeat Botox more often than every three months.

How many units

Dose follows your muscle strength and your goal, not a flat package. For reference, the FDA label uses about 20 units for the “11s,” 40 units total when the forehead and “11s” are treated together, 24 units for crow’s feet (12 per side), and 26, 31, or 36 units for platysma bands depending on severity. Your map may call for fewer. We treat units as a clinical decision, not a menu line.

Off-label areas

Other popular requests, a lip flip, bunny lines on the nose, masseter (jaw) slimming, a gummy smile, or a Nefertiti neck lift, are off-label. That means the FDA approved the drug, just not for that exact spot. Off-label injecting is legal and routine when a qualified provider does it; there’s simply less published trial data for the area. If one of these is your goal, raise it at your consult.

Botox, Daxxify, or Letybo: matching the product to your goal

All three are botulinum toxin type A and work the same way. They differ in how long they last, what the FDA approved them for, and how their units are measured, which is why a dose never transfers one-to-one between products.

When we'll tell you Botox it is Not for You

Botox relaxes muscles. It doesn’t fill volume or lift loose skin, so for some goals it’s the wrong tool, and we’ll say so instead of selling it.

  • Folds and hollows, like flat cheeks, under-eye troughs, or deep smile lines, usually call for filler or another treatment, not a neuromodulator.
  • Lines etched into the skin at rest may only partly soften. Deep, set-in creases can need more than toxin alone.
  • Loose or crepey texture is a skin-laxity problem; toxin won’t tighten it. That’s a job for treatments like microneedling or collagen-producing therapies.

Tell us first if any of these apply. Some people shouldn’t have Botox right now. Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis, ALS, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, are allergic to botulinum toxin, or take aminoglycoside antibiotics, which can increase its effect. We screen for these before we treat.

Your appointment, start to finish

Plan on a short visit with no real downtime. Here’s what each stage looks like.

During. A very fine needle and a few quick pinches, no general anesthesia. Ask for numbing cream or ice if you want it.

Right after. Small raised bumps settle in 10 to 20 minutes. A little pinpoint redness is normal. Some people bruise, and bruises usually clear in 1 to 5 days.

Same day. You can drive and go back to work. For about four hours, stay upright, skip the gym, sauna, and hot yoga, and don’t rub the treated area. Hold off on facials and massage there for about 24 hours.

Booking from Hallandale Beach, and whether the drive west is worth it

Hallandale Beach is not short on injectors. You’re about six minutes from Aventura, one of the densest aesthetics markets in the country, so the real question isn’t where to go, it’s who’s licensed to inject you and how conservatively they dose.

One Hallandale-specific note: a lot of what beach life asks you to soften is sun-related, crepey texture, sunspots, fine surface lines. Botox relaxes the muscles behind dynamic lines; it doesn’t undo sun damage. If sun texture is your main concern, tell us, and we’ll point you to the right treatment instead of selling you toxin you don’t need.

FAQs

Will Botox make my face look frozen?

Not when it’s dosed conservatively. A frozen look comes from too much product in too many muscles. We map how your face moves, treat only the muscles behind each line, and start low. You should still be able to frown, raise your brows, and show expression.

I’m in Hallandale Beach. Is it worth driving to Weston for Botox?

Only if the provider is the reason. Hallandale Beach and neighboring Aventura have many injectors, so distance alone isn’t a reason to come to us. People make the drive for PA-led conservative dosing or a second opinion after an over-treated result. Whoever you choose, verify their Florida license first.

Who will inject me, and how do I know they’re qualified in Florida?

A licensed physician assistant (PA-C), working under a supervising physician’s delegation agreement. Ask for the license number and confirm it’s active on the Florida Department of Health’s verification site before you book.

Does it hurt?

Most people feel a few quick pinches. The needle is very fine, and we can apply ice or numbing cream first.

How fast does it work, and how long does it last?

You’ll usually see changes in 2 to 4 days and the full result around day 14. It lasts about 3 to 4 months, depending on the area, your dose, and how your body responds.

Can I drive and go back to work after?

Yes. There’s no general anesthesia and no real downtime. Stay upright and skip the gym for about four hours, and don’t rub the treated area.

How many units will I need?

It depends on your anatomy, muscle strength, the area, and your goal, not a flat package. We assess how your face moves and build the dose around that, then revisit at two weeks if a line still shows.

Botox, Daxxify, or Letybo, which is best for me?

It depends on your goal. Daxxify tends to last longer, a median of about six months in trials. Letybo is the newest option for frown lines. Botox is the only one approved for the neck. We’ll match the product at your consult.

Is Botox safe, and what are the side effects?

It’s an FDA-approved prescription medicine. Common, temporary effects are redness, mild tenderness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites. Less often, people get short-term facial weakness or eyelid heaviness. Tell your provider your medications, conditions, allergies, and whether you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do you treat the masseter or TMJ-related clenching?

Sometimes, off-label. Botulinum toxin can be used in the masseter for jaw clenching or facial slimming, though the FDA hasn’t approved it for that. We’ll assess whether it fits your case.
