How many units you need

There is no flat answer, because dosing is per muscle

Stronger muscles and larger areas take more units; subtle, first-time results take fewer. Anyone quoting a firm number before seeing your face is estimating.

The FDA-approved cosmetic areas are the forehead, frown lines, and crow’s feet. The masseter, lip flip, brow, and neck are widely treated off-label by experienced injectors. Total dosing is capped at 400 units in any three-month window.

Men and people with heavier muscle usually need more. For a first visit, a conservative “Baby Botox” dose keeps your expression and lets your injector adjust at the two-week check. That follow-up is where good injectors earn their fee.

Six questions to ask before you book anyone

These take five minutes and they sort skilled medical injectors from the rest. Use them on us, too.

  1. Who evaluates you? A physician, ARNP, or PA should examine your face and write the plan. A front-desk price quote is not an assessment.
  2. Who actually injects you? Get the provider’s name and license type, and confirm it is legal for their role in Florida (the breakdown is below).
  3. What is the physician arrangement? PAs inject under a written delegation agreement; RNs only under a physician’s order and supervision. Ask who that physician is.
  4. Is the product genuine? Ask for FDA-approved, properly stored Botox or Dysport. Over-dilution and counterfeit product are the real risk behind bargain pricing.
  5. Can they show relevant before-and-afters? Recent photos of patients with your age, features, and goals, not a generic gallery.
  6. How are touch-ups handled? A two-week check and a written adjustment policy are standard. Ask before you pay, not after.

Who can legally inject Botox in Florida

In Florida, injecting Botox is the practice of medicine, not a spa service. That one fact decides who is allowed near you with a needle.

  • Physicians (MD / DO) – Inject independently.
  • ARNPs (nurse practitioners) – Inject under a written physician protocol that names Botox. The physician must be available for consultation, not necessarily on site.
  • Physician assistants (PAs) – Inject under a written physician delegation agreement, per Florida Statute 458.347.
  • Registered nurses (RNs) – May inject only when a physician examines the patient, orders the treatment, and delegates and supervises it. The Florida Board of Nursing affirmed this in 2023 declaratory statements; it is case-specific, not a blanket rule.
  • Estheticians, cosmetologists, medical assistants – Can not inject under any circumstances. Injecting without the right license is practicing medicine without a license, a third-degree felony under Florida Statute 456.065.

At Revive 365, your injector is a licensed PA-C provider working under a supervising physician’s written delegation agreement. You can ask to see how that arrangement is documented.

Some Botox uses are medical, and some may be covered

Botox is not only cosmetic. If you deal with any of the conditions below, raise it at your consultation; a documented medical case sometimes has an insurance path that a cosmetic visit does not.

FDA-approved medical uses

  • Chronic migraine prevention (15 or more headache days a month)
  • Severe underarm sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis) that topical treatment has not controlled

Off-label, clinically supported

  • TMJ and jaw tension
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Masseter slimming for a softer jawline

We also offer additional off-label neurotoxin applications on request, and we recommend only what the evidence supports for your goals. FDA prescribing information describes the approved indications and dosing in full.

The one variable most aftercare lists skip here

South Florida adds heat, sweat, and sun to the standard rules. The “no strenuous exercise for a day” line is harder to follow where workouts and weekends happen outdoors, so plan the timing before you book.

Book your appointment for a day you can actually rest the treated area, ideally not the morning of a beach day or a long outdoor run.

  • First 24 hours – Skip the gym, hot yoga, saunas, and steam rooms. Heat and heavy sweating raise your flushing and bruising risk while the product settles.
  • Stay upright about 4 hours – Keep your hands off the treated area so nothing migrates.
  • Sun, pool, and ocean – Hold off a day or two. Sunburn, chlorine, and salt water on fresh injection points are an avoidable irritation. Use SPF after.
  • Bruising prep – Ease off alcohol and high-dose caffeine for 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Botox freeze my face?

No. The frozen look comes from over-treatment or poor placement, not from Botox itself. Correct dosing relaxes only the targeted muscle and leaves your expression intact.

How fast does it work, and how long does it last?

You will notice changes in two to ten days, with the full effect around two weeks. Most results hold three to four months. Some people metabolize it faster depending on dose, activity, and individual factors.

Is cheap Botox fine if the reviews look okay?

Price usually reflects injector experience, product handling, and the cost of proper medical oversight. Unusually low offers deserve extra questions about credentials and product authenticity.

How many units will I need?

It depends on your muscle strength and goals. Forehead lines commonly take 10 to 30 units, frown lines 15 to 30, and crow’s feet 5 to 15 per side. Your exact count is mapped in person.

Does it hurt? Is there downtime?

A fine needle, a few minutes, minimal downtime. Minor bruising or swelling can happen and usually fades quickly.

Who will inject me?

A licensed PA-C provider, working under a supervising physician’s written delegation agreement per Florida Statute 458.347.

Can I use insurance?

Possibly for documented medical uses like chronic migraine or severe underarm sweating, which are FDA-approved indications. Cosmetic treatment is out of pocket.
